One thing I found surprising in Trek 02 was how I could connect clips together that I hadn't planned on. While taking the videos and pictures, I got ideas in my head, of which the majority turned out to look bad when I actually put them together. Also, after reviewing the clips, I discovered many distinct similarities that I hadn't noticed while taking them. I used these similarities when editing to clump those clips together.
A video clip of a white flower I had originally not planned on using at all turned out to be my favorite one. I found this surprising because I usually have a pretty good idea, when recording, of what looks good and what doesn't.
For my Trek 02, I wanted to compare dead and alive things in nature. I shot the footage in autumn and was surprised at how many wild flowers were still alive. I was expecting most small plants to be dead by that time. This caused some problems because I had very few dead things to compare to the alive things in nature.
