Production Strategy
For trek 03, I will be specifically limiting myself to the Brady and Farwell intersection and a few surrounding blocks. I am doing this because it is an area of heavy and consistent human interaction. I want to capture not only nature's effect, but how humans' everyday life is the effecting the land. I will limit my imaging capturing strategies to images of trash amd litter on the ground. I will also capture images of dead, leafless trees to help represent the death and waste of the city. I want to limit my sounds to things that are eerie and make people feel cold. I want to experiment with man made sounds instead of just natural sounds.
Ten Questions
1. What sounds can I record to make people feel cold and deadly?
2. Can I find sounds that aren't from nature to coincide with nature images?
3. Where can I go to record nature in the city where there aren't any cars driving around?
4. Where is litter most condensed?
5. How long does trash stay on the ground? Does it all look new? Where does it all go?
6. What can I use to directly connect the trash and snow and dead leaves?
7. How is litter affecting the city?
8. Where can I got that will most represent the city "dying?"
9. How is the "death" and waste in the city affecting the people?
10. Can I find a unique sound that people won't recognize?

Trek Assessment #4
My favorite place I explored during my treks was the marina on Lake Michigan. I went out by the yacht club and walked along the pier that stretches out into the water. It was absolutely beautiful. There were several others walking too, and had very positive energy. It was quite enjoyable.
Trek Assessment #3
One thing I found surprising in Trek 02 was how I could connect clips together that I hadn't planned on. While taking the videos and pictures, I got ideas in my head, of which the majority turned out to look bad when I actually put them together. Also, after reviewing the clips, I discovered many distinct similarities that I hadn't noticed while taking them. I used these similarities when editing to clump those clips together.
A video clip of a white flower I had originally not planned on using at all turned out to be my favorite one. I found this surprising because I usually have a pretty good idea, when recording, of what looks good and what doesn't.
For my Trek 02, I wanted to compare dead and alive things in nature. I shot the footage in autumn and was surprised at how many wild flowers were still alive. I was expecting most small plants to be dead by that time. This caused some problems because I had very few dead things to compare to the alive things in nature.

Trek Assessment #2
While recording sound for trek 01, it was very unique and peaceful hearing the details of the city. I knew that I was experiencing something that no one else around me was, and that was very special.
Also, at one point while recording my sounds, I found this little bird feeder filled with water.I started recording and ran my fingers through the water. I got mesmerized and probably stood there for about two minutes, until I realized someone from inside the house was staring at me through the window.

Trek Assessment #1
In Trek 01, I chose to record sound clips near the lake front and around the Eastside, mainly around Prospect Avenue. It was really frustrating when I first started because every sound I recorded included cars in the background. That was extremely irritating because none of my sounds were clear and focused. I thought my clips would be total failures. I resorted to finding spots that were quieter and farther away from people. Another technique I resorted to was closer micing that was more focused on intimate sounds. I also incorporated the cars into a sound clip of construction in a meaningful way, so the trek proved to be successful after all.
In Trek 02 I wanted to focus a lot on light shinning through nature. This proved to be more difficult than I had imagined. A lot of times, light glares happen by chance and by accident. I found it to be rather difficult at times to actually capture this glaring light. I was hard to find and hard to keep in view of the lens.
